Higgs vs life54 views ALFONSINA DI FUSCO

42 viewsMICHAEL JOHN GRIIFITHS
In several of Michael's works he uniquely combines his poetry and painting as in Giulaino's Song.
Guiliano's Song being more than merely a portrayal of Botticelli's friend Giuliano De Medici. It is multi layered and faceted in it's theme of Love the soul and it's relationship to the greater Cosmos.
The framed print is numbered 2 in a first run of only 4 prints, having a certificate of authenticity signed by the artist.
Michael has recently joined a group of talented professional artists gathered under the wing of Magdalena Rutkowska. Exhibiting at galleries in Mayfair, Belgravia and Covent Garden Michael has recently held a solo exhibition at the historic Leeds Central Art Library.

Though only a small painting, Mother Earth has a bigger and inspiring story to tell.
Whilst exhibited at West Yorkshire Playhouse it was stolen.
Though being assured by the Playhouse that their insurance would cover the loss, Michael was distraught because he had painted Mother Earth for love not money.
However the Playhouse used their influence and had the story covered by the Yorkshire Evening Post.
Weeks passed then out of the blue came a phone call from the Yorkshire Evening Post to inform Michael that the painting had been found by Leeds City Council youth worker Paul Cavendish.
Michael met Paul and realised that the painting had been taken because the youth also loved it. Not wishing to get the youth into more trouble, Michael gave the youth a print of the painting through Paul.
Michael was elated to have Mother Earth back and to say thank you he forged a plan with Paul to create a Mural painted by the children in Pauls care. The initial idea for the mural exodus coming from the youth who had taken the painting. It was completed over a six week period.Though the identities of the children in care are witheld from the public, they did however have a reception and unveiling of their work at Leeds Civic Centre. The Mural was also displayed at Yorkshire Television Studios in Leeds. It is now in the care of Leeds City Council.
Michael and Paul also worked together to create a Christmas Card and Christmas display for which proceeds went to Save the Children charity.
Which all goes to show what the artist now believes, that out of seemingly bad circumstances and situations, there can come truly inspiring things.
Mother Earth was only exhibited again some 19 years later at Magdalena Rutkowska's "Catch by the Eye, Save in the Heart" exhibiton at Covent Garden in June 2009.
Now Michael would like Mother Earth to go to a home where it is valued and hopes it may weave yet more magic.
